prep your hair for winter

Winter weather can be tough on your hair, but it doesn’t have to be! At LB Extensions, we’ve gathered four easy ways to keep your locks healthy during the colder months.

And guess what, babe? We’ve also listed our favorite Mr. Smith products to help you give your hair some extra love as the days gets shorter and colder.

Keep Your Hair Hydrated

The secret to healthy winter hair is combating dryness. Lock in moisture with oil-based treatments and leave-in conditioners.

Whether it’s a weekly deep hydrating mask or a lightweight daily serum, moisture is key to protecting your hair during the cold season.

 WHAT YOU NEED:

Shampoo with Mr. Smith’s Hydrating Shampoo and follow up with the Mr. Smith Masque or Luxury Masque. Be sure to use the Mr. Smith Serum for added shine and control.

 Avoid Overheating + Washing

Blow-drying is a moisture thief and can cause breakage. When possible, air-dry your hair (but don’t sleep with it wet!). If you must blow-dry, use a heat protectant to shield your locks.

Limit washing your hair too often (try every other day to start), as it strips moisture from your hair. Dry shampoos and texture sprays help manage second-day hair—but don’t overdo it; balance is key

WHAT YOU NEED:

We are big fans of Mr. Smith’s Dry Shampoo or Texture Spray to get us through the days between washes. For wash days, start your styling with Mr. Smith’s The Foundation to get the volume and body you love, but also the flexible hold and heat protection you need to combat against harmful heat.

Get Regular Trims and Treatments

Don’t skip out on your regular trims! Trimming your hair every four to eight weeks is a great way to maintain hair health. Even just a half of an inch can reduce the chance of developing dry, split ends.

 WHAT YOU NEED:

Did you know LB Extensions offers add-on services focused on giving your hair and scalp more love? Look into our Scalp Therapy, K-18, Oligo Bond Builder or B3 Treatments to help combat dryness to fight against winter dryness and protect your hair even more.

Lower the Water Temperature

This is our least favorite tip, but it sure is effective. We know there is nothing better than a steaming hot shower on the coldest of days, but hot water can also strip moisture from your hair contributing to brittleness and breakage.

Wash your hair in lukewarm water and following with a cool rinse instead.

 WHAT YOU NEED:

What we love the most about the Mr. Smith line is that it comes with complete sets focused on restoring your hair. Get all the tools you need to restore your hair this winter with Mr. Smith’s Restore Set.

Keeping your hair healthy during winter doesn’t require a total overhaul—just be mindful of these small steps. And as always, LB Extensions is here to provide trims and treatments to keep your hair in top shape. Book your appointment today – we can’t way to see you!
