committed to a solution

I wanted to take a break in our normal salon, hair focused content and talk about a new commitment we have made here at LB Extensions.

Every single minute, salons across the country send a staggering 877 pounds of waste to landfills and waterways. Every day, more than 63,000 pounds of hair clippings, 110,000 pounds of metal, and 42,000 pounds of excess hair color is thrown away from North American salons.

The impact this has on our environment isn’t something to turn away from. And that is why I’ve partnered with Green Circle Salons to help contribute to a solution. Green Circle Salons allows us to keep up to 95% of our beauty waste OUT of landfills and gives everything from your hair clippings to disposable gloves a second live.

Each night, our salon waste will be sent to a Green Circle Salons facility. From there all materials are processed and made ready for their next chapter.

What does that look like?

·      Humanitarian aid – using hair to help clean up oil spills

·      Foils being recycled into bicycle frames (really!)

·      Color waste being turned into clean energy that can be injected into the local power grid (science!)

While you will see very little changes within your typical salon service, you may notice a small “green” fee added to your final invoice. This helps us continue our commitment in being a certified green salon and ensure we are contributing to the continued waste being sent into our environment.
